According to the dictionary's website,
post-truth is "an adjective defined as 'relating to or denoting
circumstances in which objective facts are less influential in shaping public
opinion than appeals to emotion and personal belief.' "
If we take this concept to our topic,
we could put an example with public and private schools. Most people think that education in a private school is better than in a public, but are they right?
Let's start for what people says: most of the people thinks that the public schools are worse than the private ones in different aspects, such as the quality of teaching, the attitude of teachers, and more things. Also, they think that students who study in private schools have better academic results than those who study in public schools. Well, as I said before, that's what people think, but, are they wrong or is it true? Let's see if they are correct.
If we search information about what are public and
private school we can found that:
•
Public
colleges: The
public education understands the education that is given in centers supported
by public funds. It includes a control of the curriculum and of the
requirements of admission of the teachers or teachers on the part of the
administration. All the countries support a system of public education to
guarantee the access to the obligatory education, at least in the levels of
primary education, though not always the offer is sufficient to assure that all
the children could be enrolled in school. The public education can be mixed or
differentiated for sexes according to the country, but it cannot stop
registering children for ethnic, economic or social motives.
•
Private
colleges: Education
or private education is the education that, unlike the public education (directed
by public institutions), takes place in an educational institution directed by
means of the private initiative. These colleges are habitually of payment,
but in some educational systems the private education also can be, in some
cases, total or partially subsidized with public funds, since it happens in the
so called compound school. In other cases, there includes the
possibility of access to certain number students with economic insufficient
resources by means of some system of scholarships.
So knowing this information, we can see
that the thoughts of many people are wrong. The two types of schools are right
in all aspects:
1. That
the teachers are paid for the condition and not for the families of the
students it does not mean that they are better or not teaching.
2. That
the students do not have to pay does not mean that the quality of education is
worse.
